Release Date: 27 Sept, 1997. ================================================== Title : Improved Crosshair for Hexen 2 Filename : h2_xhair.zip Author : Chris Pimlott / Moebius of Dark Requiem Email Address : pimlottc@null.net IRC : DR_Moebius on GamesNET #random Clan home page : http://www.2design.org/dr Description : One of the things I took home from The Fray was a a copy of an improved crosshair I got from AceJas of Clan Gib. Having become used to this newer crosshair, I was annoyed when Hexen 2 came out and I was forced to use the old one. So, I spent a little time poking around the Hexen 2 pak files, and soon came up with this. I am told the original replacement crosshair from Quake was made by Saber9, so credit goes to him for the idea. Once you install this file, the normal bulky crosshair will instead be replaced with a smaller more accurate red crosshair. For those interested in playing with editing the console characters for Hexen 2 by themselves, here is some info. Instead of being an entry in the gfx.wad file like in Quake, the console characters are stored in the file /gfx/menu/conchars.lmp in pak0.pak. The format of this file is a raw 256x128 paletted image. Additional Credits to : id for creating the Quake engine. Raven for creating Hexen 2. Saber9 for creating the original crosshair. Installation : Unzip this archive into a temporary directory. Rename the file pak2.pak to pakX.pak where X is the next highest number of pak file in you Hexen 2 /data1 directory. The default name is pak2.pak. If you have the registered version of Hexen 2 and have not modified it, renaming will not be necessary. Once you have renamed the file, copy it to the /data1 directory in your Hexen 2 directory. You may then delete the files in the temporary directory. * Copyright / Permissions * Do what you want with this file. Modify it, distribute it freely, put it on a compilation of files for Hexen 2, etc. I don't care. I would appreciate being notified if you modify it or include it in any compilation, but it is not necessary. * Where to get this file * http://www.lookup.com/Homepages/75294/h2_xhair.zip
