The concept was to post preferences for the kinds of maps you like to play, then mappers were assigned to map for one another based on those preferences. Then we did a secret santa "unboxing" where mappers got to see their recipient play their map and also play the map made for them. All maps were made in a two-week timeframe, and map styles range from "Relaxing Exploration" to "Chill slaughter" to "the utterly deranged and/or puzzles that make you utterly deranged". Merry Christmas! The entire mapping and wad creation process was held in the Pacifist Paradise Discord Server, which I have a link to somewhere around here... Fun. Doomcute. Special techniques like mikoportals. Favorite (doom) music/midis: stuff like The Mucus Flow and 'Plasma' from 'Toxic Shock' in Alien Vendetta Favorite color: bronze Map Notes: Emperor SPOON: "Maybe with more time I could have properly thought through the encounter designs and had the layout reflect that. As it stands, I suppose the layout is sorta fun to run around in...? I put a lot of work into the detailing, so you'll find no shortage of that here. The fake bridges were also a nightmare; trying to account for every possible angle the player can approach from. I think they work fine, but let me know if something breaks. When making the Midi, asking for The Mucus Flow or Plasma felt like a tall order. Again, maybe with more time I could have made the midi feel more like that, but it doesn't grate the ears on repeat so I suppose it has that going for it. I hope you find this map at the very least mildly entertaining. I had fun placing all the trees and adding all the Doomcute and details. I'm pretty much available most of today and maybe tomorrow and Sunday, so hit me up about when you wanna play it." MAP02 : The Abominaballad Author : D0M0 Gift for : Emperor SPOON Music : cloudshaping by Ribbiks Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: Atmospheric, slow-burner, environmental storytelling, Complevel 9, semi-combat puzzle, weird stuff that does freaky shit with the engine to achieve some sort of visual or gameplay effect (optional) Favorite (Doom) music / Midis: Atmospheric, somber, prog-ish, preferably something with Steel Guitar or E-Piano Favorite Color: Clear / Transparent (If this is confusing, then stick to black and white with a dash of blue) Map Notes: D0M0: "You may be able to tell by playing this map but I had severely underestimated the amount of time I had for making this map. Originally the final fight was going to be a huge task, but again, ran out of time so I had to result to a smaller, goofy fight, which means it's not so much a slow burner than anticipated. A lot of the fights i'd say are pretty combat puzzle heavy along with the theme fitting a very monotone colour scheme (along with some blue in the mix). I threw in some interesting voodoo tricks with some fights but nothing too crazy. Honestly i'm a little disappointed myself with the result of this but hopefully you at least like it somewhat. Very sorry if it's not what you'd hoped for, i'm not exactly an amazing mapper when it comes to doom. Merry Christmas tho!" MAP03 : but to have a love of that color Author : Peccatum Mihzamiz Gift for : D0M0 Music : Trouble by Bloo Prompt : Favourite genre/tropes: ~ Complevel 9 ~ Non-linear routing. ~ A series of small scale slaughter fights which leads to a huge slaughterfest at the finale. ~ Secrets that require puzzles to get and that are very rewarding. ~ Has a fair amount of ammo but doesn’t oversupply nor starve the player. ~ Maps that are based on giant structures in a void-like setting. ~ Honestly just surprise me. I really don’t mind what you throw into the map as long as it’s not super complicated platforming. Favourite music: I don’t really know with this one. Try and find a MIDI that’s ominous. Favourite color: You can choose either between green or teal as the colour theme. Either one works for me but i don’t mind if you decide not to stick to those colours. Map Notes: Peccatum Mihzamiz: "This was a lot of fun! The small scale slaughter fights I made really are not that big. I'm not a big puzzle guy and had trouble combining that with slaughter: so maybe in a next map I'll succeed in doing that. Merry Christmas!" MAP04 : The Complex Eaten by Snow Author : RedBoule Gift for : DeafPixel Music : Golden (from Celeste) sequenced by LPad Prompt : Favourite genres/tropes: surreal, slaughter, cramped, combat-puzzle-y. Calming / mysterious, levels that feel huge but the playable area is small or have lots of areas you can't reach, feeling trapped, feelings of awe, idk Favourite (doom) music: stuff like elysion map01, alien vendetta map10, speed of doom map19, sf2011 map32, grove, nuts 3, mucus flow. generally "ethereal" / video game music Favourite colo(u)rs: Don't particularly care, lately ive been drawn to both single-colour maps and contrasts between white/grey and green. Map Notes: Red_Boule: "I tried to be as close as possible to what you wanted and I think I did good idk. I hope you'll enjoy this because it was a lot of fun to make. Merry Christmas!" MAP05 : Blood Red Boulevard Author : NiGHTS108 Gift for : RedBoule Music : Funky Stars by Quasar of Sanxion sequenced by Jimmy Paddock Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: Combat puzzles without too many ennemies, or the complete opposite: slaughter map with lots of ressources and not impossibly difficult to play. Non-linear map where you can kind of choose where you want to go next, difficult and challenging map please 🙂 Favorite (doom) music/midis: Nosp2/3 style of electro/atmospheric sounding MODs. My personnal favorite being Nosp3 Map23 Favorite color: Green (preferably mixed with another/other color(s)) Map Notes: NiGHTS108: "Kind of a weird map, in a strange way both detailing and gameplay wise I think it ended up as a bizarre half and half amalgamation of mine and RedBoule’s style, there’s a few slightly clumsy parts, particularly the red and blue key fights, though I think the ending and start’s pretty fun. Inspiration wise I mostly looked at RedBoule’s standalone map, Spacecraft Invasion and a little bit of his Doomium MAP28, Purgatory Nexus. Either way, merry christmas @Red_Boule, hope you enjoy!" MAP06 : Iced-In Canyon Author : DeafPixel Gift for : NiGHTS108 Music : In a Snow-Bound Land from DKC2 Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: Speedmap, hot starts, light slaughter (?), pop-up ambushes, fluid Gusta-like fights, rather elegant layouts, healing in damaging floors (not in an annoying way I promise), infinitely resurrecting turret enemies (or turret enemies in general), midtextures, LOTS of them, rocket launcher + plasma rifle, sometimes BFG for a last fight (Don't worry, I don't expect you to do all of these or anything) Favorite (doom) music/midis: 16-bit video game MIDIs, stuff from Donkey Kong Country, early Sonic stuff, Castlevania, etc, or songs from stuff like Plutonia (or any) MIDI Pack, Plutonia 2, Epic II, Skillsaw wads, Rise Of The Triad Favorite color: Red, at least for Doom maps, for hard mode make something with my actual favourite colours, blue and purp Map Notes: DeafPixel: "went joshy-mode on this, basically" MAP07 : Weitengrone Underground Author : osminee Gift for : DuckReconMajor Music : Funky Stars by Quazar of Sanxion (mod) Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: E1-style chill gaming or modern power fantasy micro slaughter. anything in-between. i am unironically a fan of things others dislike such as: shotgun, shotgun guy, Joshy's SOD maps (MAP05 <3). But I also like the things others like. Speaking of SOD05 i like outdoor areas that still manage to feel constrained. if you have no pre-existing vision just re-make sod05, otherwise i'd love to see anything you had in mind. tl;dr: i am very easy to please, you will not disappoint me. :nodders: Favorite (doom) music/midis: something fanciful, like a midi of Duck Tales Moon theme, or something xmas, or something thrash, early Metallica midis etc. idk if that's against the spirit but if you like it so do i again: not picky Favorite color: green Map Notes: osminee: "Happy Christmas Duck! :)" MAP08 : The Alchemist's Stronghold Author : Berubaretto Gift for : osminee Music : Vacant Lot from Resident Evil Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: puzzle maps, light/a bit tough combat, aesthetics 😍 Favorite (doom) music/midis: suspense building, spooky, metal bangers to headbang to (depends on the map mood) Favorite color: yellow (orange is also nice) Map Notes: Berubaretto: "Currently the map implements UV and HMP difficulties, and HNTR is the same as HMP. If you feel UV is too tough, feel free to lower the difficulty. I tried my best to put a small puzzle in this map. Hope you enjoy it!" MAP09 : "Wowzerz!" Author : Andrea Rovenski Gift for : Berubaretto Music : game18 from descent Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: short map, combat involves cyberdemons infighting other monsters Favorite (doom) music/midis: musics from Descent is recommended, other musics are also fine Favorite color: yellow or orange Map Notes: Andrea: ":)" MAP10 : Semi-Cybernetic Nightmare Author : DuckReconMajor Gift for : Andrea Rovenski Music : Megaman X Vs. Zero Nightmare - Sequenced by: ShadowMan.eXe Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: everything that isnt those weird trick maps :)))) wolfenstein3d-style designs too. (esp the textures). tysonable gameplay. no bfgs, ideally. bizzare layouts. Favorite (doom) music/midis: mega man x6 Favorite color: uhhhhHHHHHHHhhhh fduck like pink or purple?? green? Map Notes: DuckReconMajor: "This was originally going to be a much more calm map but then i found this midi and this starting fight popped into my head and it all took off from there 🙂" MAP11 : HoursDaysMonthsSeasons Author : General Roasterock Gift for : msx2plus Music : SINHALE by Zan-zan-zawa-veia Prompt : fave genres/tropes: idgames (not in the memey bad on purpose way), adventure, claustrophobic, rocket launcher+berzerk, homs, platforming that is fun to do quickly, generally not too ball busting but tricky, i don't actually play a ton of doom :xdd1::xdd2: fave music/midis: i want to hear something you like or think is interesting. :catPlanet: fave color: see below Map Notes: GeneralRoasterock: "No idea left behind, spiritually two decades old, couldn't fit what I think is interesting in the wad without making it several MB so it's listed instead" MAP12 : balls Author : riktoi Gift for : General Roasterock Music : Beloved Tomboyish Girl from Touhou 6, sequenced by Gyana Ren Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: Thought-provoking understanding of monsters, made from the heart, BFG Favorite (doom) music/midis: Ethereal, alien, jazzy, no mods if you can help it Favorite color: White Otherwise: I trust your judgment Map Notes: riktoi: "I did my best to make something intriguing, with the weapon of choice being BFG. Unfortunately white is quite lacking in the palette and the resource WAD so I went with light blue. Have fun!" MAP13 : Fanfiction Lemonade Author : el inferno Gift for : riktoi Music : Girders by Jimmy Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: Surrealist nonsense. Intentionally frustrating gameplay. Atmospheric maps Favorite (doom) music/midis: Long ass Jimmy prog midis Favorite color: Yellow Map Notes: el inferno: "Well, here we go 🙂 The prompt you gave was quite provocative :xddx: but I ended up making something only mildly challenging since I don't really know your taste too well. I guess I learned that you like maps with anime boys but there's none in this one, unfortunately. Also no color yellow so I put something yellow in the title... Also the map is not that abstract. The midi is by Jimmy but not exactly long ass... I failed my task pretty badly, now that I think about it. Joking aside, but I hope you enjoy this thing 🙂" MAP14 : Deckerbone Valley Author : Nefelibeta Gift for : el inferno Music : Map04's music from Summer of '69 Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: any kind of slaughter, maybe preference for ssg/pg cramped gameplay, but bfg/rl spam is also welcome. Any kind of platforming, fast paced or pixel fuckery - I dont care. Preffered difficulty could be challenging to fucked. Favorite (doom) music/midis: anything metal, prog rock midis, or smth chill. Favorite color: surprise me! MAP15 : Taiga Author : Ravendesk Gift for : Nefelibeta Music : That's where I belong by Beyond Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: starvation (not necessary) Favorite music/midis: anything that suits (I don't think you can use a generic doom rock midi for a christmas map anyway) Favorite color: anything that suits Map Notes: Ravendesk: "It is freezing outside, try to keep yourself warm whenever you can. Bonfires and buildings will give you enough warmth to stay outside for a bit without getting cold. And be careful spending your resources. Only UV is implemented, not sure how balanced it is, I'm open to nerf/buff it. The music is a mod (.it), if you prefer midi, I have a midi version of it, it just needs a bit of volume balancing." MAP16 : Nocturnal Bottleneck Hypothesis Author : 4shockblast Gift for : Ravendesk Music : String Attack! by Stephen Rippy from Age of Empires Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: cramped fights or puzzle combat, small scale slaughter, fluid platforming, but tbh pretty much anything goes if it's not boring. I like complicated 3d layouts, but you don't need to make one. Favorite (doom) music/midis: anything goes, I trust you that it fits the map Favorite color: green, but you can use any colours you want Feel free to ignore anything I said here. Map Notes: 4shockblast: "Have fun. :^)" MAP17 : Everlasting Snow Author : raddicted Gift for : 4shockblast Music : Assessment by Progbass92 Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: uhh idk, anything goes basically but add some platforming 🙂 could be ultra-cooked or the easiest thing ever. not a fan of spectres or forced glides/zero presses, most other tricks and monsters/gameplay scenarios are safe Favorite music: don't care much, I use a lot of midis from OSRS and The Incredible Machine, but anything goes really Favorite color: :multiShrug: Map Notes: raddicted: "a map with some magnolia textures and a pretty decent amount of platforming, could be more combat but whatever you mainly specified platforming so lol" MAP18 : MODWALL3 my beloved Author : Petyan Gift for : raddicted Music : loc_n6.mid by ribbiks Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: resource starvation, infighting, slaughter-lite fights, platforming, slaughter (in small doses, like 1 or 2 fights), secret hunting, puzzles, combat puzzles, forboding/melancholic visuals Favorite (doom) music/midis: 10x10 map10, wormwoodEU map04, dotw map06, nova map31, 10x10 map07, 10x10 map08, jumpwad map07, Favorite color: white and/or green (but just choose whatever looks good) Map Notes: MAP19 : Grandpa and dad got into a drunken brawl and ruined everyone's weekend. same thing every time Author : dashiefrickintyan Gift for : Petyan Music : If only it were a sea of beer by Dune Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: I find enjoyment in almost everything when it comes to doom except for ammo starvation. Also really like when the map allows me to melee stuff and swap between melee/ranged weapons frequently. I will most likely like the map that you liked making. Favorite (doom) music/midis: Usually chill/mysterious kind of vibe music (even in slaughter), also i do like whenever someone uses classical music in maps. Don't have a preference between midi/tracker, both are good. Favorite color: Yellow, but it's hard to use in doom, grey is 2nd favorite, overall doesn't really matter though, every color is good, even brown. Notes: My favorite maps usually tend to be either absolute chaotic slaughter that infights a lot with occasional player interfernce (stuff like sc26, aa28 etc, you get the idea) or something very exploration heavy with no combat (jumpwad in general, but jump07 specifically, sepia 34 is also really good) For the love of god don't even try to use specters, i can't see them due to super low monitor brightness/saturation. I also don't like shotgunners, but they are more tolerable. Having a berserk in the map is also something i usually look for. If you feel like checking out stuff i make (i tend to like the gameplay at least) check out Sepia, my junkfood 2 maps (jf1 map i made is bad) and 1x1 MAP18. Above all - don't actually worry too much, i will like whatever you make as long as you liked mapping it. Favorite texture is OTEX beer, and it made it into the resource pack 🙂 Map Notes: dashie: "not christmas for us yet, but merry christmas petyayayayaya💜 this map is really-really smol and meme'y and i'm really sorry for it, but i hope you'll like it anyway. also there's a lot of pevko:kirien1Hug:" MAP20 : She Could Almost Touch the Sky Author : Phoenyx Gift for : dashiefrickintyan Music : its_cold_up_here by Ribbiks Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: as for visuals - dreamy, void, maybe melancholic heh, i really like castles and liquids too:p as for gameplay - not so much to say, but light slaughter with scuffed secrets sounds fun. i won't mind if there will be not a lot of monsters, but pretty architecture, cus i'll be just going around appreciating it. while writing this i have 10x10, alcazar, ribbik stuff in my head, so maybe something similar to that stuff (or you can go full on icgya and i'll be still happy (goes to visuals too)) Favorite (doom) mucis/midis : oh well uhhhhh, again i like dreamy/moody stuff or the other opposite, something energetic and that would make me catJAM. as for example of moody stuff you can check dumdum thoughts (+CheesyMozzarella midis and blahblah), for jamming stuff it can be Cyber-Rainforce midis (like battlefront, carbon dioxide, rendezvous, fortune etc), or Jimmy's stuff:) or you can even use mods, i like them a lot too! something from hardcore or dance or trance or rave genre directory xdd just make me catJAM:) Favorite color: 💜🖤 or you can just have fun:) just don't make me suffer pls Map Notes: Phoenyx: "This map is a little bit scuffed because I was ripped away from it for about a week due to University so forgive me if the map's fights are a bit shit and the ending is a bit abrupt LOL" MAP21 : Spectral Carmine Author : Knifeworld Gift for : Phoenyx Music : MAP01 MIDI from The Mind Asylum Prompt : Favourite Genres/Tropes: I don't really have a specific favourite. Just make it fun, bonus points for having great atmosphere. Extra bonus points if its a long map. Just for added help, here's some of my favourite maps off the top of my head: Breathless Sunlust Map 28 Resurgence Map 27 Speed of Doom Map 06 Poogers Map 28 Judgment Map 26 ICGYA Map 17 GOODWAD Map 11 and 26 Fractured Worlds Map 06 Eviternity Map 14 The Event Horizon 1x1 - Map 09 and 13 Back to Saturn X: Episode One - Map 24 Alien Vendetta - Map 20, 25 and 26 (yes I know these are really boring opinions but idc) Antaresian Reliquary - Map 05 (yes I know this is from NOVA 3 but I also don't care, I prefer this version) 32 Inch Nails Map 05 TNT Revilution Map 12 Literally the entirety of Scythe 2 Episode 5 Favourite Music: I love the darker side of Doom music, stuff like TNTR Map 12's MIDI and Exomoon Map 12's Favourite color: Red (bonus points if combined with black) Map Notes: knifeworld: "I took a ton of screenshots of maps you listed, but kind of did my own thing with the texture set anyway, using a lot of Red GOTHBAR, ALLBACK, and gray textures and flats. UV only at the moment in terms of balancing, will do difficulty levels soon enough. Only the finale room might be fucked though, but there should be enough cells. Hope you have fun with the map! and do let me know if you decide to stream or do a demo of it, or if you have any suggestions/feedback." MAP22 : Blood Toll Author : Dan Gift for : Knifeworld Music : Hell's Furnace by Tristan Clark Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: Anything as long as it has cool lighting and atmosphere and isn't a techbase or "classic doom" style map. Combat puzzles, nomo exploration, exploration with monsters, macroslaughter, huge evil structures, layout/architecture-porn, lighting gradient abuse, clever use of vanilla sector effects and linedef actions, software rendering or colormap fuckery, light puzzle elements, huge monster counts, tiny monster counts but with high difficulty, boom light sequences. Bonus points for doom64-like vibes. Favorite (doom) music/midis: Dreamlike stuff with heaps of atmosphere, icy or evil sounding instruments. Or, something like flotsam06 or the more heavy sounding hr2 midis, softer but still very foreboding MIDIS are also great. Any style is fine tbh, as long as it's moody and works well in MIDI or mod format. Favorite color: Black (or just textures that are dark), bonus points for adding Teal, Orange, White, or Red in there somewhere, for example: as lighting or liquids. Map Notes: Dan: "Some pretty straightforward arena combat. I tried to make the first two fights play different depending on what order you tackle them. Not sure how fun it came out in the end, but hopefully you enjoy it 🙂" MAP23 : Cold Leftover Wings Author : tonytheparrot Gift for : Dan Music : Confusion by xtd Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: BFG macro slaughter, plenty of resources but the player has to work to gain access to them, rushing switches to activate multiple phases at once. Difficult Favorite (doom) music/midis: Generally prefer chill stuff even for BFG spam, but I also think faster paced tracks can work really well too. No preference between midi or tracker Favorite color: Anything except purple or pink (just don't like how they look in doom nothing against the colours themselves :xddx:) Map Notes: tonytheparrot: "Mostly inspired by your Junkfood maps, which are the ones I am the most familiar with, hopefully it is hard enough and enjoyable for you sir!" MAP24 : Peak Revealed Author : Monsieur E Gift for : tonytheparrot Music : Dark Groove from Jazz Jackrabbit 2 Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: Extreme slaughter, HR inspired maps, BFG spam (esp with infinite ammo) and skeleton spam Favorite (doom) music/midis: classic megawad or video game OSTs, renditions of popular songs, ogg files Favorite color: I honestly don't care, you can go wild or just make it full startan, be my guest! Don't hesitate to take a look at my work here: https://doomwiki.org/wiki/Tonytheparrot (especially the levels in my megawad, Junkfood2 or Hell Revealations) if you want a better idea of what I generally make and enjoy the most in a Doome map. (tho ofc you can add in your creative touches!) Map Notes: Monsieur E: "Fortunate coincidence I got to map for someone who's style I'm probably the most familiar with LOL. I had a funny gag planned where I would be "low on time to betatest my map" and make you do it as a surprise but I'm tired of waiting." MAP25 : Frozen Cave Author : brendondle Gift for : Monsieur E Music : Crawling Vermin by Psychedelic Eyeball Prompt : Favorite Genre: Zzul slaughter, ribbiks/D-D combat puzzles, ammo starvation if there's berserk, many secrets to find especially through movement (but no reptitive press switch -> find lift before it raises sequences), infinite bfg grind kinda like ToD, casual 2-shotting inbetween normal sequences. Fav easy wad is Zzul Bases. I also enjoy platforming so long as it doesn't require more precise sr50 setups or more sr50-ing in general in excess since I have skill issues on that front Generally I like most stuff but I don't really like scythe 1 inspired stuff, regular shotgun gameplay even for like half a minute, skillsaw inspired stuff kinda bores me now, lots of turret enemies you're expected to pick off, damaging floor use, abundant hitscan use, the shotgunner like completely, Music: Gloomier, somber pieces that invoke melancholy, dread, overwhelming the player, etc. Not into normal rock or metal midis. Favorite color: Surprise me Map Notes: (brendondle): "i have no idea what your skill level is lol so i kinda made this based around mine, so apologies if its WAY too cooked. i havent gotten around to difficulty settings quite yet but i'll definitely get them done soon in case uv is too hard. the main thing im worried about is if uv is too difficult for you to enjoy but i really hope you have fun nonetheless :) also, you can softlock yourself from the secret so heres a hint if you need it: keep your best friend alive :) also just wanna add that youre an awesome person and i really enjoy talking with you in my twitch chat and this discord, and that im super happy youre a part of this community. love you bro and merry christmas" MAP26 : To Brendondle With Love Author : Cynder_Thief Gift for : brendondle Music : Power Rangers Theme Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: resource starvation (berserk or non-berserk), slaughter, cryptic secrets (typically with secret fights), cramped fights, reuse of space Favorite (doom) music/midis: i really dont care, but ive been listening to a lot of pryrus, ad_79, and ribbiks midis lately Favorite color: idc :trollrainbow: Map Notes: Cynder_Thief: ":cereal2:" MAP27 : The Real Dude Souls Starts here Author : cassis Gift for : Cynder_Thief Music : City Lights in the Black Strait Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: I like slaughter, frantic starts, and duck-and-cover urban combat style gameplay. I love Archvile skirmishes. Harlot's Garden (Sunder M 32) is my favorite Doom map of all time. Struggle and Augur Zenith are two of my favorite wads. I despise convoluted progression, and I could do without hard platforming. Favorite Midis: I adore the soundtracks for Valiant, Ancient Aliens, NOSP 2, and Cosmogenesis. Favorite color: The turquoise/cyan family of colors. Also red marble. Map Notes: cassis: "Read the readme. I was suddenly struck by inspiration for this map/gimmick while thinking about your stream and had to do it, I hope it's not too far outside your comfort zone. If you're not having fun feel free to savespam etc. Readme: As long as you are having fun, use the bonfires to save the game. Save only within the candle circle. "Use" the torches to refill your health. Read the automap to learn about the world of Dude Souls. I hope you enjoy 🙂" MAP28 : ẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶẶ Author : besus Gift for : cassis Music : CAFO - Animals as Leaders Prompt : Favorite genres/tropes: irregular heighted detailed floors, natural formations, weird stairs, ledgecrawls. small scale cyber/rev/archie driven BFG slaughter. (esp. with redrock 😁) intricate projectile dodging driven fights, slaughter (or small scale crowd based fights) where you can't faceplant crowds to easily solve space issues due to tight health, """bullethell""", reality slaughter, okuploky shit etc. easy flowy platforming and easy flowy rocketjumps. intentionally designed obscure progression, "where do I go/how do the mechanics of this map function to allow me to go places" puzzles (as opposed to "play checkers in doom" puzzles). Big nonlinear exploration maps with biting combat. Open ended activate as you like actioney maps like SL18 and TOTG03. Bizarre punishments for taking resources. General resource tightness if it drives interesting strategic approach to a map or rewards projectile avoidance that is usually unimportant in doom maps. Some of my favorite wads which exhibit some though definitely not all of the things here: No Chance, skepland, Old Still Life Favorite (doom) music/midis: love love love dancey stuff like FL05 midi on imposing combat maps. Appropriate use of super noisy abrasive stuff like Degrassi midi. Ambient stuff. General weird stuff. Utena midis. Oh now that we have mods Raiden Fighters style aggro Amiga stuff. surprise me if you want 😁 Favorite color: pink i have neither positive or negative feelings on the one color highlight style these days so do whatever you want I'm a really omnivorous player and love earnestly made stuff the author clearly likes so hopefully you can find some ideas you like in here or use this palette as an opportunity to go outside your comfort zone without sweating about whether you're making something tediously hard and massive enough for me. If you want to spend a week making Dimensions 7 for some reason though go nuts I'll stream it Map Notes: besus:"surprise it is me who maps for you super sorry about the whole thing being super late i did test this and max it took like a good several hundreds of attempts it works fine with v12 of rsc balanced for pistol start, foreknowledge (read: blind unfriendly) and good rng (slot) i only got to making a subset of the wishlist tho i did try to do my best also the prompts really got me out of my comfort zone and i enjoyed it more than i thought i would so i hope you dont hate it too much honestly i didnt like the 2nd section of this too much it didnt really follow the prompt but idk what to do with geometry ive already drawn if you dont like it i could just delete the whole section tbh since its the worse part of the map to me also note that some of the pseudo-switches might be broken just press use on them twice if they do nothing i just didnt really want to have to use a custom switch table entry" MAP29 : 17 kilometres 'til Freedoom Author : deat Gift for : besus Music : gmc.bonus from Terry's Big Adventure by Alistair Brimble (converted to MOD) Paris 1939 by dreamer
