=========================================================================== Primary purpose : Single play =========================================================================== Title : Cyberdyne Operations Filename : CyberdyneOperations.wad Release date : July 8, 2024 Author : CHILLYBUS Email Address : [redacted] Description : Crosswalking Doom/Descent levels has been seen as nigh impossible due to the latter's truly 3d nature. However, one set of official levels might be doable -- Descent Maximum, a 24-level campaign released as a port of Descent II to the PlayStation. 6dof games on consoles are pretty tough to develop for and control, and the PlayStation's RAM didn't allow for a high count of segments in a level (analogous to Doom's sectors). These levels are simple and play very quickly on PC versions of Descent II - they wouldn't be 24 consecutive E1M1-likes, but it'd be a quick set to play in Doom. Cyberdyne Operations is its first level, and is a proof of concept both to see if porting some or all of Maximum to Doom is possible, and as a learning project for making Doom maps in the first place. This map uses only the stock Doom II assets. I set the par time at 21 seconds, but this could probably get done in 15 or less. Additional Credits to : Bill Hamilton, Peter Han, Dan Wentz, Jasen Whiteside, Mike Kulas, and Matt Toschlog Sirius, Tobias, and Arne for maintaining DLE-XP and OLE. =========================================================================== * What is included * New levels : 1 Sounds : No Music : No Graphics : No Dehacked/BEX Patch : No Demos : No Other : No Other files required : None * Play Information * Game : Doom 2 Map # : 01 Single Player : Designed for Cooperative 2-4 Player : No Deathmatch 2-4 Player : No Other game styles : None Difficulty Settings : Not implemented * Construction * Base : New from scratch Build Time : 16 hours Editor(s) used : Ultimate Doom Builder R4182 Known Bugs : None Tested With : GZDoom 4.12.2 * Copyright / Permissions * This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License.
