"Auxiliary Rot" A vanilla Doom 2 MAP01 replacement that is focused on maintaining the core gameplay feel and look of Doom 2 while adding more contextualizing environmental features. My First ever Doom wad! This map was developed in GZDoom UDMF format. Play-tested in gzdoom using hardware rendering with no freelook, jumping, or crouching (the vanilla way). I believe it flows the same (apart from 1 secret you can hop to) with jumping and freelook. The enemy placement is the same throughout all difficulty levels but I believe it is balanced enough for the most part. This map could be considered on the more challenging side of a vanilla Doom 2 level, however there are many secrets that can help (11 in total)! I had a heavy industrial theme in mind with lots of gore and some demonic imagery. Some tricks here, some traps there, a little OG Doom map reference there- I wanted this map to be a small to medium experience that serves as a rather intense introduction to the megawad it will eventually be included in.  All of the lighting was made to still look pretty in the most basic rendering, but it looks even better with advanced settings! I made this map to test my skills trying out different things in the editor (within relatively vanilla scope) and that also may show, and as my first wad I will be extremely focused on any criticizing feedback I receive to improve with my next creation. If there's anyway I can improve my skills in creating wads I am very eager for the guidance! Thanks to all who try it out! Looking forward to any response on my first creation! Final Edit: Due to the incompatibility with such a popular mod as brutal doom, due to some incompatibility with the way multiple events are triggered by crushing enemies off-screen- I am now regarding this wad as a standalone level instead of my original intent to eventually release it as part of my megawad. I want all of my multi-level wads to be as compatible as they can be; This map can stand as an example of the first few things I was experimenting with but I'm going to consider it finished.
